Troop One
Volunteer
Heros
September 11, 2001 - A date that will remain in our thoughts for the rest of our lives and the lives of the children we touch.  This is what it must have been like for those who hear and read and perhaps saw the aftermath of Pearl Harbor. Scouting has always been there for the country in time of war as well as peace.  We build leaders of good character for the future.    Then as now many heros have emerged and our stories are full of their tales.  Well the tale of Troop One includes heros -- our adult volunteers are heros.  Without them, there is no Troop One.  This page is dedicated to those adult volunteers of Troop One who have helped these awards come to the scouts and scouters listed below.

Troop One has the greatest adults in all of Scouting.  But this troop would not even exist if it weren't for the sacrifice of two individuals in particular.  The Scoutmaster of Troop One will be forever grateful for the time and energy of Jim Kane and Jerry Kitska.  While other wonderful adults have followed, their contributions would not have been possible without Assistant Scoutmasters Jerry K and Jim K.  Gentlemen, my thanks and gratitude to you, my heroes. -- Steve Myers, Scoutmaster Troop One.

E. Neil Knott  -  Scouts of the Year

Manatoc Instructors

A Troop One Honor Award

A "Manatoc Instructor"

  1. shows scout spirit that consistently reaches the highest plateau of scouting expectations
  2. has sacrificed his own time and offered his effort in order to help his fellow scouts learn and advance, often at the deteriment of his own advancement and pleasure
  3. has achieved a high rank and position of authority in the troop
  4. represents the type of scout that can always be counted on to assist others at all time
  5. has Scoutmaster approval
This is an honor for the youth members of Troop One and not an earned award and is given as recognition for scouting effort as described above.  this honor is signified by a distinctive patch. Each scout may receive only one patch.  In the case the scout ever behaves in a way unworthy of this high honor the Scoutmaster may withdraw the honor and reclaim the patch.

The appropriate location of presentation of the honor is at the Butler Memorial at the Manatoc Scout Reservation.
