Eagle Scout Project builds a prayer garden
September 1, 2012 Akron Beacon Journal

By Colette M. Jenkins

Akron’s Connor Weber spent much of his time this summer creating a place of peace at EMERGE Ministries Inc.

“It’s a huge gift to the ministry. We have wanted to do something with this space for years, but our budget hasn’t allowed us to,” said John M. Palmer, president of the Akron-based Christian counseling center. “Every time I walked by and looked at the brick wall, I would say to myself: ‘This would be a good place for a prayer garden.’ ”

Palmer’s wish is now a reality, thanks to Weber, 17, who completed the garden last week as an Eagle Scout project. (read the entire story)

Participants were required to participate in a detailed evaluation process before, during, and after the event to provide important feedback to the jamboree team to be used in the final planning process for the 2013 jamboree.

FAIRLAWN — The Old Portage District of the Boy Scouts of America saluted veterans in a ceremony Nov. 8 at the Fairlawn-Kiwanis Community Center on South Smith Road.

For the ninth straight year, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venturing Crews and Girl Scouts gathered to honor those who serve or have served this country. The program included speeches from veterans and the singing of patriotic songs. Then, in what has become a tradition, the Scouts marched in review saluting veterans in attendance.
